Job Description

AWS Infrastructure Services is a critical division within Amazon Web Services (AWS), responsible for designing, planning, delivering, and operating all AWS global infrastructure. The team plays a fundamental role in supporting every AWS data center and maintaining the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that provide customers worldwide with reliable and continuous access to groundbreaking cloud computing technologies. With a wide scope that includes complex supply chain challenges and thousands of influencing factors, this team ensures that AWS remains at the forefront of cloud innovation by delivering cutting-edge infrastructure solutions on a massive global scale.

The AWS Infrastructure Services group is comprised of a broad range of professionals, including software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. Collectively, they work to uphold stringent standards for safety, security, and operational excellence, all while managing resource efficiency to provide seemingly infinite capacity at minimal costs to AWS customers. The inclusive culture within AWS encourages bold ideas and empowers employees to take ownership of projects until completion.

In this dynamic context, AWS is seeking a Commissioning Engineer (CxE) to join their team. This role is pivotal in overseeing and coordinating multi-discipline work related to the design review and commissioning of Amazon's critical infrastructure for new construction projects and other specialized undertakings. The CxE is entrusted with supporting vendors, contractors, and cross-functional teams involved in the construction and commissioning phases for various systems including medium and low voltage power systems, generators, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), chilled water, building management systems (BMS), and emergency power management systems (EPMS).

The Commissioning Engineer is responsible for contributing expert input in scheduling, test script development, designing, and project planning. They develop and review testing protocols for electrical and mechanical components and integrated systems to ensure compliance with design bases, specifications, industry standards, and operational sequences. Equally important is the enforcement of safety practices and policies throughout all commissioning procedures. Continuous auditing ensures that commissioning activities meet environmental, quality, and safety standards.

Reporting regularly to regional managers, the CxE communicates status updates, shares lessons learned, and suggests program improvements aimed at enhancing the overall quality of commissioning operations. The role demands flexibility, as it involves managing multiple projects with tight deadlines and requires physical ability to navigate diverse job sites safely. This is an excellent opportunity for engineering professionals to contribute to the backbone of AWS’s mission-critical data centers and infrastructure projects while being part of a globally recognized leader in cloud technology.

Positions for this role are available in various locations including Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, and Avondale, with competitive compensation ranging between $116,800 and $160,000 annually. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits and encourages candidates from diverse backgrounds, including those who may not meet every preferred qualification, to apply. Work-life harmony and fostering a culture of inclusion are strongly valued, empowering Amazonians to thrive both professionally and personally.
