Job Description
Walt Disney World Resort is a world-renowned entertainment and hospitality company, famous for its theme parks, innovative attractions, and exceptional guest experiences. Located in Florida, Disney World is not only a destination for millions of visitors annually but also a leading employer known for fostering a culture of creativity, inclusion, and development. The Resort operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, requiring a dedicated and skilled workforce to maintain the highest standards of safety, functionality, and guest satisfaction across its vast property. Employing thousands of Cast Members, Disney World offers unique perks such as cast-exclusive discounts and access to educational resources like the Disney Aspire program, making it a highly desirable place to build a career in hospitality and maintenance trades.
The Area Mechanic - Kitchen Tech role at Walt Disney World is a vital field service position responsible for ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of kitchen-related equipment throughout the resort. This role goes beyond basic kitchen knowledge, requiring expertise in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair work involving plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, and commercial kitchen equipment. The Area Mechanic is expected to service and repair complex kitchen systems, including soda and beer drink systems, ensuring the highest levels of operational efficiency for Walt Disney World's extensive food service locations. The job involves working in varied and sometimes challenging environments such as elevated platforms and confined spaces across the Resort's property.
The successful candidate will possess at least four years of experience troubleshooting and maintaining commercial kitchen equipment, with a strong understanding of electrical controls, heating systems, plumbing, and CO2 systems. Proficiency in reading blueprints and schematics is essential, as well as the ability to use specialized diagnostic tools like multimeters and refrigerant gauges. Physical demands include the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and the role requires excellent written and interpersonal communication skills coupled with technological proficiency in standard office software and mobile devices. Safety is a priority; thus, Cast Members may be required to handle cleaning chemicals safely and use appropriate personal protective equipment such as face shields and goggles.
Compensation for this position in Florida is competitive, at $29.59 per hour, with a benefits package that may include medical, financial, and other options to support employee well-being and professional growth. The Walt Disney World Resort actively encourages qualified individuals with U.S. Military experience to apply, reflecting its commitment to diversity and inclusion. Schedule flexibility is crucial, given the continuous operation of the Resort. This rewarding position offers the chance to contribute meaningfully to the Disney Difference while building a career in a respected, dynamic environment.
