Job Description
Chartwells K12 is a leading foodservice provider specializing in creating innovative and nutritious dining programs for schools. This opportunity is for the position of Cold Food (Salad) team members at the Stroudsburg School District, located at 2015 Chipperfield Drive, Stroudsburg, PA 18360. The position is on an on-call basis with working hours between 9:00 am and 2:45 pm. The pay rate is set at a competitive $15.50 per hour, and internal employee referral bonuses are also offered. In the Cold Food (Salad) role, employees will be responsible for preparing and serving cold food items such as sandwiches, salads, delicatessen meats, vegetables, and cheeses. The work involves utilizing slicing machines, knives, and other cutting tools to prepare food according to established production standards, ensuring portion control, quality, and food safety. The role requires close coordination with the kitchen team to meet daily production schedules and maintain proper stocking and merchandising of deli and cold food products.
Employees are expected to maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with HACCP standards, ServSafe guidelines, and company safety policies. The job includes tasks such as cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces, refrigeration units, and floors, as well as proper food storage using standardized wrapping, dating, and rotation techniques. This position offers a great introduction to the foodservice industry with comprehensive training provided, making it suitable for candidates who may not have prior experience but have a strong willingness to learn and grow within the company.

Job Requirements
- Previous experience preferred but not required
- Must be willing to train
- Ability to work on call schedule between 9:00 am and 2:45 pm
- Must be able to perform physical tasks related to food preparation
- Ability to comply with food safety and sanitation standards
- Must be able to work in a team environment
- Must have reliable transportation to Stroudsburg School District location
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to learn and operate slicing machines and other kitchen equipment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment
- Previous foodservice experience is preferred but not required
- Willingness to learn and be trained
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and organization
Job Duties
- Obtains daily production schedule and preparation requirements from Chef
- Prepares sandwich meats, cheeses, condiments and salads using approved production standards
- Stocks and replenishes deli/cold products and condiments following approved merchandising guidelines
- Carries pans, kettles and trays of food to and from workstation, stove and refrigerator
- Stores food in designated areas following HACCP standard wrapping, dating and rotation procedures
- Cleans, sanitizes and maintains counters, work surfaces, refrigeration units and floors
- Places meat, cheese or vegetables on cutting board and cuts slices to designated thickness
- Positions and clamps meat or cheese on slicing machine and operates it
- Interacts with coworkers to ensure compliance with company service standards, inventory and cash control procedures
- Maintains clean, safe work environment to comply with sanitation, ServSafe and safety requirements
- Performs other duties as assigned
