The Barista role at Bluestone Lane is a part-time position requiring availability on Mondays and offers a dynamic, fast-paced work environment where quality and customer service are paramount. The Barista is responsible for upholding the standard of quality for Bluestone Lane’s coffee and beverage programs within their assigned store. This includes mastering drink recipes, managing equipment maintenance, and maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the workspace. The role is cross-functional, with Baristas rotating between preparing beverages, managing the point-of-sale system, and handling food orders. This flexibility ensures a smooth flow of operations and maximizes both customer satisfaction and sales.

- basic knowledge of coffee preparation or willingness to learn
- experience with POS systems
Job Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience as a barista in specialty coffee or 2 years in non-specialty coffee in a fast-paced environment
- strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- experience using a point of sale system
- ability to work in a high-pressure environment
- well-organized and detail-oriented
- passion for customer service
- ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40lbs
Job Duties
- Follows BL recipes and presentation standards in a timely manner
- manages coffee shop equipment and tool cleaning and maintenance
- follows BL operating procedures and processes including completing transactions accurately and following safety and security measures
- dials machine in and maintains consistent espresso extraction per Bluestone Lane brew ratios
- understands the menu to educate, upsell and excite locals efficiently
- trains, educates and acclimates baristas in training
- contributes to innovations to improve workflow and service speed
- fosters a cohesive team and encourages the vision and culture of BL
- reports supplier issues to management
- delivers an efficient, high quality product
- completes audits and maintains store standards
- manages coffee product rotation and ordering to minimize waste
- communicates and interacts with locals enthusiastically
- maintains bar and workspace cleanliness and organization
- completes store opening and closing procedures accurately
- maintains grooming guidelines
- provides quality product with speed and accuracy
