Job Description

Dish Society is a highly regarded farm-to-table restaurant located in Mueller, Austin, dedicated to serving fresh and locally sourced ingredients in its breakfast, lunch, dinner, and brunch offerings. As a chef-driven establishment, Dish Society emphasizes quality, consistency, and the creation of memorable dining experiences that keep guests returning. The restaurant prides itself on maintaining a fast-paced yet intentional kitchen environment where food is crafted from scratch. This approach allows the team to uphold the highest culinary standards while embracing the farm-to-table philosophy, which contributes to its distinguished reputation in the Austin food scene.\n\nCurrently, Dish Society is seeking passionate Line Cooks for both AM and PM shifts to join their dynamic team. This position offers both full-time and part-time hourly opportunities starting at $18 per hour, with open availability preferred. The Line Cook plays an essential role in bringing the menu to life, working across various stations in a scratch kitchen that values consistency, cleanliness, and a high standard of excellence. Unlike roles that focus on a single station, this position requires cross-training across multiple areas including dish, prep, salad/sandwich, grill/fry, sauté, and expo. This variety ensures that employees develop a well-rounded skill set and contribute maximally to the kitchen’s efficiency and quality.\n\nEmployees are expected to prepare a variety of dishes such as salads, sandwiches, salmon, omelets, and pancakes by following precise recipes and specifications to maintain consistent quality at all times. Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workstation is paramount, with "clean as you go" being a foundational principle of the kitchen’s operations. Supporting team members and ensuring smooth and efficient service during peak hours are also key components of the role.\n\nDish Society invests in its employees through clear standards and comprehensive training programs. New hires receive cross-training on multiple stations, enabling them to be flexible and effective throughout the kitchen. Meeting established standards at each station is mandatory, and mastery over stations enhances an employee’s value within the team. The company fosters career growth by offering opportunities to learn every aspect of kitchen operations and increase earning potential as skills and responsibilities expand. Consistent performers who demonstrate reliability and accountability may advance into leadership roles, reflecting Dish Society’s commitment to developing talent from within.\n\nIdeal candidates are detail-oriented, pride themselves on their culinary work, and thrive in fast-paced environments. Prior kitchen experience, ability to read and follow recipes, calmness under pressure, clear communication, teamwork, receptiveness to feedback, and willingness to learn and adapt are crucial traits. Spanish language skills are preferred to facilitate clear communication within the team.\n\nMore than technical skills, Dish Society seeks individuals who embody its core values of pride in food quality, hospitality by supporting teammates and guests, continuous growth through ongoing improvement, and connection by being present and engaged with the team. Physically, the role requires the ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and comfortably work in hot, fast-paced kitchen conditions. Flexible availability for mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays is necessary. Food Handler certification and adherence to all safety and sanitation standards round out the essential qualifications.\n\nThis role is not just a job—it’s a stepping stone in a culinary career for those committed to hard work, rapid learning, skill growth, and being part of a strong, high-standard team in a vibrant Austin community. Dish Society is excited to welcome new team members eager to grow alongside the brand and make a meaningful impact through exceptional food and service.
