Job Description
Unity Care NW is a private, non-profit, federally qualified health center (FQHC) dedicated to serving the greater Whatcom County area since 1982. With clinics located in Bellingham and Ferndale, this organization provides comprehensive primary medical, behavioral health, dental care, and pharmacy services to a diverse, often underserved patient population across all ages. Employing over 300 compassionate professionals, Unity Care NW operates with a mission to increase healthy life years for the individuals and communities it serves. The organization values respect, integrity, accountability, collaboration, and innovation, which it strives to embody in all aspects of its work, fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture where talent and shared values align.
The Clinic Receptionist role at Unity Care NW is a vital front-line position focused on delivering a welcoming and efficient check-in experience for all patients and visitors. This full-time, hourly position offers a standard wage ranging from $22.71 to $26.71 per hour, with opportunities to earn up to $30.66 per hour over time. Additionally, there is a Saturday shift differential of 10 percent. The work schedule includes four 10-hour weekday shifts, with occasional Saturday coverage required at the Bellingham clinic. This position is well-suited for individuals who excel in customer service, data entry accuracy, and electronic clinical system proficiency.
This role requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing. Candidates should be familiar with Microsoft Word, Outlook, payment systems, and electronic medical records (EMR) and scheduling systems. Experience in a medical or dental office setting is preferred, especially when interacting with underserved populations and demonstrating cultural competency. Key responsibilities include greeting patients, managing appointment scheduling, handling payment transactions, and providing general customer service support. Working as part of a collaborative team, the Clinic Receptionist helps uphold the high standards and values of Unity Care NW.
Unity Care NW offers a competitive compensation package, including a comprehensive benefits plan with medical, dental, and vision insurance; a 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching after one year; paid holidays; and generous paid time off increasing with tenure. Additional benefits include paid sick leave, bereavement and jury duty leave, life and AD&D insurance, optional supplemental insurance options, flexible spending accounts, and employee assistance programs. The organization also promotes alternative transportation incentives and wellness programs such as healthy living reimbursements. Unique perks like medical hardship payroll loans, employee referral bonuses, and will preparation services further demonstrate Unity Care NW's commitment to supporting its workforce.
Unity Care NW maintains a robust employee health program to ensure the safety of patients and staff, requiring up-to-date influenza vaccinations for all new hires and strongly encouraging COVID-19 vaccinations. This structured approach underscores the organization’s dedication to maintaining a healthy and safe environment in clinical settings. Individuals who meet the stated requirements or possess comparable experience and qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply and become part of a team making a meaningful difference in community health.
