Job Description
Safety-Kleen, located in Groveport, OH, is a leading environmental services company specializing in industrial hazardous waste management, parts-cleaning technology, and oil re-refining. Operating as a subsidiary of Clean Harbors, Safety-Kleen is deeply committed to sustainability and environmental responsibility with a strong focus on green business practices. The company generates over $1.2 billion in annual revenue and manages the collection and re-refining of used motor oil on a massive scale, reclaiming more than 150 million gallons annually. With a substantial presence in North America, Safety-Kleen is dedicated to helping businesses manage waste responsibly and reduce their environmental impact through innovative and compliant solutions.
The role of Local Class B Route Driver at Safety-Kleen is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about safety and environmental stewardship. This position requires the operation of a Class B tanker truck to collect waste oil and antifreeze from a range of customer sites, including automotive dealerships, garages, bus companies, airports, fleet maintenance facilities, and rental car companies. The role is centered around ensuring high safety standards during operations, responsibly handling hazardous materials, and providing top-notch customer service. As a Local Class B Route Driver, you will make approximately 10-15 stops per day, using specialized equipment to pump out tanks and collect samples.
Safety-Kleen prioritizes health and safety above all, living this commitment 365 days a year. Employees enjoy competitive wages paid hourly plus commission, and the job offers the advantage of a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, allowing drivers to be home nightly. Working full-time at Safety-Kleen means gaining access to comprehensive health benefits just 30 days after employment, as well as group 401K plans with employer matching. The company supports employee ownership through its Employee Stock Purchase Plan and provides generous paid time off, fully company-paid training, and tuition reimbursement opportunities. Beyond these benefits, Safety-Kleen fosters a work environment encouraging career growth, development, and advancement at every stage of an employee's journey.
This position suits candidates who hold a Class B CDL and are willing and able to obtain Hazmat and Tanker endorsements. It is preferred that applicants have prior experience in route driving and show competence in using electronic logging devices (ELD). Key skills include strong customer service capabilities and a proactive approach to safety compliance. The role also involves generating new business leads during customer visits, which highlights the importance of professionalism and communication skills.
At Safety-Kleen and its parent company Clean Harbors, diversity and equal opportunity are fundamental values. The organization provides reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities and proudly supports military and veteran employment. The recruitment process may involve artificial intelligence tools for preliminary steps, but human judgment remains essential in final decisions. Salaries for this role are competitive and reflective of location, experience, skills, and business needs, with additional bonus and incentive opportunities. Overall, the Local Class B Route Driver position offers a rewarding career path within a respected environmental leader dedicated to making green work for its customers, employees, and communities.
