As a part of this vibrant and supportive environment, the CDL-B Driver role plays a crucial part in the country’s food supply chain. This position requires responsible and professional delivery of food and foodservice products to various customers, ensuring timely arrivals and excellent product condition as the driver represents the face of the company to clients. The work schedule for this role is Monday through Friday, with dispatch times between 3 AM and 5 AM, reflecting the early and essential nature of food distribution work. The CDL-B Driver is tasked with operating tractor trailers or straight trucks intrastate and interstate, including local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight routes to deliver or unload food-related products safely and efficiently. The role also involves adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies to ensure safety and compliance during all deliveries. Drivers conduct thorough pre- and post-trip safety inspections, maintain accurate delivery paperwork, interact professionally with customers and vendors, and contribute as collaborative team members within their department and the larger organization. The position demands physical capability given the requirements to hand-lift product cases, utilize equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates, and maintain neat and orderly transportation equipment. The role is integral to upholding the company’s reputation for dependability, customer service excellence, and maintaining the highest quality standards in food delivery service.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid CDL-B license
  • 6 to 12 months of commercial driving experience
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Meet all state licensing and certification requirements
  • Clean motor vehicle report for the past 3 years
  • Pass drug testing and criminal background screening
  • Pass a road skills test
  • Attain or have a current DOT health card
  • Ability to lift and move freight with equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates
  • Ability to work early morning hours from 3 AM to 5 AM Monday through Friday

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Valid CDL-B license
  • 6-12 months of driving experience
  • Must be 21 or older
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or maintain valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure new DOT Health Card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move and stack products of varying sizes and weights

Job Duties

  • Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • Reports all safety issues and repairs required
  • Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products that have been loaded
  • Checks and completes in an accurate and legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight
  • Moves tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unloads products from the trailer, transports items into designated customer storage areas
  • Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
  • Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
  • Collects money where required
  • Loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
  • Ensures tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured
  • Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and completes necessary paperwork
  • Unloads equipment, materials, and removes trash from trailers as required
  • Completes daily record of hours of service and enters in log per Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keeps trailers clear and clean
  • Secures all equipment and completes paperwork at end of shift
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
