Job Description

Performance Foodservice is a leading broadline food distributor that proudly caters to a diverse range of customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. As a subsidiary of Performance Food Group, it stands out in the food distribution industry by not only providing a vast selection of high-quality food products but also by fostering close customer relationships through its team of dedicated sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other experts. This team collaborates closely with customers to offer valuable insights on operational improvements, menu development, product selection, and overall strategic growth. The company’s mission is deeply rooted in supporting independent restaurant owners and other foodservice clients beyond just delivering goods — it is about contributing to their success and growth in the competitive foodservice market.

Performance Foodservice operates with a commitment to safety, inclusivity, and employee welfare, offering competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package right from day one, which includes health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401(k) employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off, among others. The company emphasizes a safe and inclusive workplace culture centered around rewards, recognition, and respect, ensuring that employees feel valued and supported at every step.

The CDL-B Driver position at Performance Foodservice is critical within the company’s extensive food supply chain. These drivers are essential in ensuring that food and related service products reach customers on time, safely, and in excellent condition. The role is more than just delivery—it is about being the face of the company and building strong, lasting relationships with customers through professional and reliable service.

This full-time position offers a pay starting at $210 per day or more depending on route components, along with a $4,000 sign-on bonus. The work schedule typically consists of a five-day week with dispatching between midnight and 6 a.m. As a CDL-B Driver, you will be entrusted with operating tractor trailers or straight trucks across local intrastate and interstate routes, including over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight drive and drop routes. Your responsibilities will include making deliveries to a variety of customers in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

Day-to-day duties include conducting thorough safety checks of the vehicle and trailer, accurately counting and inspecting freight, completing all required documentation with precision, securing freight loads, navigating predetermined delivery routes, unloading and transporting deliveries to customer storage areas, managing customer returns and damaged goods, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the truck and loading dock areas. You will also be responsible for logging hours of service in compliance with federal and state laws, ensuring all equipment is properly secured at the end of shifts, and effectively communicating with customers, supervisors, vendors, and colleagues.

Ideal candidates for this role are experienced commercial drivers who hold a valid CDL-B license, have a clean motor vehicle record, and possess the physical ability to handle and load/unload freight of various weights. The company values professionalism, safety awareness, and strong communication skills. Performance Foodservice provides a supportive work atmosphere where your efforts directly contribute to the vital task of keeping America’s food distribution system running smoothly and efficiently.
