The Driver, Shuttle position at Core-Mark plays a vital role in the company’s logistics operations, responsible for the transportation of trailers to and from warehouse locations and shuttle yards. This role offers a competitive pay rate of $22.00 per hour for local routes, with a shift schedule from Sunday to Thursday, starting at 9:30 pm dispatch. The position features a four-day workweek with 10 to 12-hour shifts, providing the advantage of being home daily. Drivers in this role contribute directly to maintaining the efficiency of America’s food distribution system by handling empty and full trailers safely and timely while complying with all Department of Transportation regulations.
In this position, the Driver, Shuttle operates tandem trailers, tractor trailers, and straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes. They perform critical safety checks before and after trips, including vehicle and trailer inspections to ensure compliance with DOT and company safety policies. The driver must maintain clear communication with customers, vendors, and coworkers, providing professional support and resolving inquiries efficiently. Responsibilities include following predetermined routes, performing hook and unhook procedures for trailers, securing freight, and completing all required paperwork and logs to meet federal, state, and company guidelines.
The role demands physical capability to hand-lift heavy product cases ranging from about 60 to 90 pounds and use equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates for moving freight. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- At least six months of tractor trailer driving experience
- Valid CDL Class A license
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Meet all applicable state licensing or certification requirements
- Clean motor vehicle report for the past three years
- Pass a pre-employment drug screening
- Successfully pass a road test
- Valid current DOT health card or ability to obtain one
- Physical ability to hand-lift and use equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates to move freight
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience
- Six plus months of experience driving tractor trailers
- Valid CDL Class A
- Must be 21 years of age
- Meet all state licensing and or certification requirements where applicable
- Clean motor vehicle report for past three years
- Pass pre-employment drug test
- Pass road test
- Valid current DOT health card and or able to secure new DOT health card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and or other equipment to move and or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
Job Duties
- Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
- Report all safety issues and or repairs required
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Immediately report all safety hazards
- Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Ensure all required route paperwork is with tractor trailer load and available upon dispatch
- Drive and deliver trailers according to predetermined route schedule
- Perform hook/unhook procedures per safety guidelines
- Park and store tractor trailers in designated areas
- Ensure all equipment and freight are appropriately locked and or secured
- Collect and secure damaged goods and customer returns in empty trailer to bring back to driver check-in at base facility and complete necessary paperwork
- Unload all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required
- Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean as required
- Perform other related duties as assigned
