Job Description

Performance Food Group Customized Distribution (PFG Customized Distribution) is a leading distribution company that specializes in meeting the unique needs of some of America’s most recognized national chain restaurants. Their clients include popular chains such as Cracker Barrel, TGI Friday’s, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, and Ruby Tuesday. PFG Customized Distribution thrives on providing customized attention and a centralized contact for product lines, menu changes, and account coordination, serving customers across the United States and in more than 40 countries worldwide. This establishes them as a critical player in the food distribution and logistics sector, providing essential services that help restaurants maintain the consistency and quality their customers rely on.

The company offers a safe and inclusive working environment that promotes a culture of rewards, recognition, and respect for all employees. Working at PFG Customized Distribution means being part of a team that values growth opportunities as they perform essential work that supports America’s food supply chain. Employees benefit from competitive pay and comprehensive benefits, including health and wellness benefits from day one, an Employee Stock Purchase Plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, uniforms, safety boot allowances, and more.

The Driver, Dedicated Backhaul role is a critical position within PFG Customized Distribution, responsible for ensuring that logistics loads, food, and non-food product loads are transported safely and timely. The drivers operate tractor-trailers (day cab or sleeper), tandem trailers, or straight trucks for both intrastate and interstate routes. These routes may include local deliveries, over-the-road trips with layovers, shuttle runs, and overnight drives. Drivers play an essential role in maintaining the integrity of the supply chain by making sure product loads arrive in good condition at the scheduled times.

The role is not just about driving; it involves building lasting relationships with customers, vendors, and coworkers, serving as the company’s face in the field. Drivers are expected to provide excellent customer service by communicating professionally and responding promptly to inquiries. They must follow Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies to guarantee compliance and safety.

Key responsibilities include driving assigned routes to supplier/vendor or PFG warehouse locations, handling backhaul loads, performing product and paperwork inspections, accurately completing necessary documentation, and maintaining communication with supervisors about routes, schedules, and load issues. At the end of each shift, drivers are responsible for securing equipment and completing any required paperwork.

This position offers a weekly base pay of $670, with additional benefits that begin from the first day of employment. The schedule typically includes dispatching on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday around 8 PM. Employees receive free uniforms and a safety boot allowance, further emphasizing the company’s commitment to employee safety and comfort.

PFG Customized Distribution is committed to equal employment opportunity, ensuring a diverse and inclusive workforce where all individuals are respected and valued regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, marital status, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic. They uphold policies that support fairness and transparency.
