The company is currently seeking Food and Food Service Delivery Drivers, who play a critical role in sustaining the nation's food supply chain. This position is essential in ensuring that food products reach their destinations on time while maintaining their quality and safety. As a delivery driver with Core-Mark, you will not only be responsible for the physical transportation and loading/unloading of products but also act as a public representative of the company, building strong relationships with customers through professional and courteous service. The role requires adherence to federal and state Department of Transportation regulations, company safety standards, and thorough equipment inspections. You will be responsible for managing and documenting delivery activities, including maintaining accurate paperwork and verifying transactions. This role offers a competitive pay rate starting at $26 per hour and a favorable four-day workweek schedule with dispatch times between 3:00 AM and 6:00 AM, providing work-life balance benefits. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum of 12 months commercial driving experience
- valid CDL-A license
- must be at least 21 years old
- meet all applicable state licensing and certification requirements
- clean motor vehicle report for the past 3 years
- pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- current or attainable DOT health card
- ability to physically handle product cases, including lifting weights between 10 and 90 pounds
- compliance with all safety and regulatory guidelines
- reliable and punctual
- strong attention to detail and safety
- good communication skills
- able to work early morning shifts starting between 3:00 AM and 6:00 AM
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent
- 12+ months commercial driving experience
- valid CDL-A
- must be 21+ years of age
- meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
- pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- attains or has a valid current DOT health card and/or able to secure new DOT health card
- able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
- knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance
- excellent customer service and communication skills
Job Duties
- Performs all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
- inspects tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed
- reports all safety issues and/or repairs required
- follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- immediately reports all safety hazards
- inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products that have been loaded
- checks and completes in an accurate and legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight
- moves tractor to the loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer as needed
- drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- unloads products from the trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas
- performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
- verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
- collects money (cash or checks) where required
- loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
- ensures that tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured
- unloads damaged goods and customer returns and brings them to driver check-in and completes necessary paperwork
- unloads all equipment, materials and removes trash from trailers as required
- completes daily record of hours of service and enters log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keeps trailers clear and clean as required
- secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift
- performs other related duties as assigned
