The Driver, Hourly CDL-A position at Core-Mark is a vital role within the company's food supply chain operations. This role involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks for intrastate and interstate deliveries, including local, over-the-road, shuttle, and overnight routes. The driver is responsible for ensuring that food and related products arrive at customer locations safely, on time, and in excellent condition. Beyond the technical driving responsibilities, the driver serves as the face of Core-Mark, establishing and maintaining positive relationships with customers through professional communication and reliable service.

This position offers competitive pay with a minimum weekly earning target of $1384.62, contingent upon meeting minimum weekly requirements discussed during the interview. The work schedule is Monday to Friday with a unique 4-day work week, with dispatch times between 3:00 AM and 6:00 AM, allowing for a balanced work-life routine. In addition to driving, the role includes valuable tasks such as managing delivery paperwork diligently, obtaining proper delivery confirmations, handling customer returns, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of equipment and workspace. The driver is also accountable for accurate completion of daily records, including hours of service logs in compliance with federal, state, and company regulations.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 1+ years tractor trailer commercial driving experience
  • 6+ months foodservice/beverage route delivery experience
  • Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attains or has valid current DOT health card and/or able to secure new DOT health card
  • Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
  • Product generally ranges from between 10-35 pounds and up to approximately 60 to 90 pounds depending on location

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Performs all required safety checks including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
  • Inspects tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and takes appropriate action as needed
  • Reports all safety issues and repairs required
  • Follows all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Immediately reports all safety hazards
  • Inspects trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Performs count check of items and checks customer invoices of products that have been loaded
  • Checks and completes all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
  • Moves tractor to the loading dock and attaches preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drives to and delivers customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • Unloads products from the trailer and transports items into designated customer storage areas
  • Performs damage control checks on items, scans, and contacts supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
  • Verifies delivery of items with customer and obtains proper signatures
  • Collects money where required
  • Loads customer returns onto trailer and secures trailer doors
  • Ensures tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and secured
  • Unloads damaged goods and customer returns and brings to driver check-in completing necessary paperwork
  • Unloads all equipment, materials, and removes trash from trailers as required
  • Completes daily record of hours of service and enters in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • Performs general housekeeping duties in tractor, loading dock area and keeps trailers clear and clean as required
  • Secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
