With a fleet of over 13,000 vehicles and a workforce of more than 71,000 colleagues, Sysco dedicates itself to delivering excellence through supply chain logistics. The Sygma Oklahoma team is known for its commitment to teamwork, career development, and providing industry-leading service to its customers. They emphasize paid training and offer opportunities for their employees to grow both personally and professionally in a stable and rewarding career environment.
The Delivery Driver role at Sygma Oklahoma is essential for maintaining the smooth operation of foodservice distribution. This position involves safely and efficiently transporting products from the warehouse to various customer locations by driving tractor trailers. Delivery Drivers handle 2-3 routes weekly with an attractive earning potential, where the average annual pay ranges between $82,000 and $85,000, with top earners capable of making over $125,000 per year. Routes require overnight deliveries from Sunday through Friday, but time on the road is generally limited to around 36 hours. Drivers use well-maintained, automatic vehicles and operate under established company standards and safety guidelines.
Responsibilities include unloading products by hand or using hand carts in all weather conditions, ensuring products are stored according to customer specifications, and maintaining accurate paperwork including DOT logs, vehicle inspection reports, and delivery invoices. Attention to food safety protocols is paramount – drivers must maintain proper temperatures, inspect products for damage, and prevent cross-contamination. Building good relationships with customers by providing courteous and reliable service is also a key part of the role.
Applicants are required to have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent, with at least one year of tractor trailer driving experience preferred. Completion of tractor trailer driving school is acceptable in lieu of or alongside formal education credentials. Candidates must hold a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License and be insurable to operate a vehicle. English proficiency for communication and safety compliance is necessary. Physical demands include lifting and moving heavy products, climbing in and out of vehicles, and working in various environmental conditions.
The work environment can be demanding with exposure to extreme temperatures, mechanical parts, and occasional confined spaces. The job typically involves overnight work schedules including weekends and holidays, with flexibility required to accommodate dispatch times and customer needs. Sysco and Sygma Oklahoma pride themselves on equal opportunity employment and provide accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential duties.
Sygma Oklahoma offers competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance, and a 401(k) plan with a stock purchase option. They provide paid training, well-maintained equipment, and support career advancement in a large, respected foodservice distribution company. For those seeking a stable career with growth potential and a commitment to employee success, the Sygma Oklahoma Delivery Driver position represents a valuable opportunity within the broader Sysco Corporation family.
