The position available is for a Driver - Hourly, which offers a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. This full-time position is based on a four-day workweek schedule running Tuesday through Friday, guaranteeing three-day weekends. The role begins early in the day at 4:00 AM and ensures drivers are home daily, with first-year pay ranging between $69,000 and $75,000, including base hourly, component, and overtime pay. This position typically involves local routes but also encompasses varied delivery assignments such as shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes. The role is integral not just for timely and safe delivery of food and food-service products but also for maintaining strong relationships with customers as the public face of the company.

The Driver's primary responsibility is operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes. The job requires adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards, ensuring thorough safety inspections, accurate documentation, and effective communication with customers, vendors, and coworkers. The driver performs loading and unloading activities, verifies deliveries with customers, collects payments when necessary, and manages equipment and freight security throughout the delivery process. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 6+ months commercial driving experience
  • valid CDL-A license
  • minimum age 21 years
  • meet state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • clean motor vehicle report for last 3 years
  • pass drug and criminal background checks
  • pass driving road test
  • current or able to secure DOT Health Card
  • ability to hand-lift and operate moving equipment for freight handling

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent
  • 6+ months commercial driving experience
  • valid CDL-A
  • must be 21+ years of age
  • meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
  • clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
  • pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • pass road test
  • attain or hold valid current DOT Health Card or be able to secure new DOT Health Card
  • able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight up to 90 pounds

Job Duties

  • Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • report all safety issues and/or repairs required
  • follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • perform count check of items and check customer invoices of products loaded
  • check and complete all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
  • move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
  • drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
  • unload products from trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas
  • perform damage control checks on items and contact supervisor about removing orders as per company policy
  • verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
  • collect money where required
  • load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
  • ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured
  • unload damaged goods and customer returns and bring to driver check-in completing necessary paperwork
  • unload all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required
  • complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
  • perform general housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock area
  • at end of shift secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork
  • perform other related duties as assigned
