Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline distributor known for servicing a diverse range of local customers, including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. As part of the food distribution industry, PFG prides itself on cultivating strong, personal relationships with customers through its team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and operational experts. These professionals not only supply high-quality food products but also provide valuable advice on menu development, operational strategies, and improving business efficiency. The company’s mission extends beyond delivering great food — it is dedicated to helping independent restaurant owners and food service operators achieve their goals and grow their businesses.

Performance Foodservice is known for its uncompromising commitment to safety, customer service excellence, and inclusive workplace culture. The company offers competitive pay and generous benefits, including day-one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more. Employees can expect a supportive work environment where safety, respect, recognition, and growth opportunities are prioritized.

The CDL-A Driver role at Performance Foodservice is integral to the company’s food supply chain operations. Delivery drivers play an essential role by ensuring that food and related products are transported safely, timely, and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This position involves driving tractor trailers or straight trucks on various routes including intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes. Drivers are responsible for the proper handling, loading, unloading, securing, and delivery of freight, maintaining professional communications with customers and coworkers, and upholding all safety and company policies.

This role offers full-time employment with a minimum daily pay of $350, typically requiring work over 4-5 days per week based on business needs. The average shift lasts 10-12 hours, with dispatch times mainly between midnight and 5 AM depending on assigned routes. Notably, this position offers no Sunday shifts, supporting a balanced schedule for employees. Drivers also experience split days off, contributing to work-life balance.

As the face of Performance Foodservice, CDL-A Drivers not only ensure the integrity of deliveries but also build lasting, positive relationships with customers. Essential job duties include conducting pre and post-trip safety inspections to comply with DOT regulations, checking freight loads and securing cargo properly, maintaining accurate paperwork, and adhering to all company safety and driving guidelines. This role demands attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to operate specialized equipment such as lift gates and two-wheelers to manage freight that can weigh from 10 up to around 90 pounds.

Performance Foodservice supports its CDL-A Drivers with a strong safety culture, recognizing their critical contribution to the food distribution system. The company fosters a respectful and inclusive work environment where employees receive recognition for their efforts and are supported in their professional growth. This job is an excellent opportunity for experienced commercial drivers seeking a rewarding career with competitive compensation, robust benefits, and a stable employer committed to equal opportunity and workplace diversity.
