The role of Driver, Hourly CDL-A at Core-Mark plays a vital part in the nation’s food supply chain. These drivers are responsible not only for safely transporting food and foodservice products but also for representing the company professionally in all customer interactions. This position involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks within local, interstate, and intrastate routes, including over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop deliveries. Drivers are tasked with ensuring timely deliveries, maintaining safety compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and fostering strong customer relationships that contribute to Core-Mark’s reputation for reliability and exceptional service.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six or more months foodservice distribution experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Minimum age 21 years
  • Meet state licensing or certification requirements
  • Clean three-year motor vehicle report
  • Pass post-offer drug and background check
  • Pass road test
  • Possess or obtain DOT health card
  • Ability to lift and move freight weighing up to approximately 60 to 90 pounds
  • Ability to operate hand trucks and lift gates

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
  • Six or more months of foodservice distribution industry experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Meet all state licensing or certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report for past 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Have or be able to obtain valid DOT Health Card
  • Ability to hand-lift and use equipment such as two-wheeler and lift gate to move product cases of varying weights

Job Duties

  • Perform all required safety checks including pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tractor truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • Inspect tractor truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and report issues
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies
  • Report safety hazards immediately
  • Inspect trailers for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Perform count check of items and verify customer invoices
  • Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailers as needed
  • Drive and deliver customer orders according to scheduled routes
  • Unload products and transport items into customer storage areas
  • Conduct damage control checks and communicate with supervisors
  • Verify deliveries and obtain signatures
  • Collect money where required
  • Load customer returns and secure trailer doors
  • Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are locked and secured
  • Unload damaged goods and complete necessary paperwork
  • Perform housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock areas
  • Complete daily hours of service records and logs
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
