The position of CDL-A Driver at Performance Foodservice is a vital part of the company's mission to deliver exceptional service and support America's food supply chain. This role involves operating a tractor-trailer or straight truck for the successful delivery of food and related products to customers. The position is scheduled from Sunday to Thursday with dispatching after 7 pm, offering a 4 to 5-day workweek. With an annual pay range of $80,000 to $85,000, along with a generous sign-on bonus of $10,000 (paid in installments after 90 days and upon the one-year anniversary), the company offers a competitive compensation package to attract qualified professionals.
CDL-A Drivers are responsible for handling various critical tasks, including the safe driving of vehicles according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, performing routine safety inspections, securing freight, maintaining accurate delivery documentation, and managing interactions with customers and vendors professionally. Job Requirements
- 1 year commercial driving experience
- Must be 21 years of age
- Pass pre-employment drug test
- Pass road test
- Able to secure new DOT Medical Card
- Must be able to work the assigned schedule required for the position
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English
Job Qualifications
- 1 year commercial driving experience
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- Must be 21 years of age
- Meets PFG Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) requirements for past 3 years
- Pass pre-employment drug test
- Meet PFG FMCSA Clearinghouse requirements
- Pass road test
- Able to secure new DOT Medical Card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift
- Must be able to work the assigned schedule required for the position
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English
- English language proficiency is required
Job Duties
- Perform all required safety check including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
- Inspect tractor/truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed
- Report all safety issues and/or repairs required
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
- Immediately report any and all safety hazards
- Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Perform count check of items and check customer invoices of products that have been loaded
- Check and complete in an accurate and in legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight
- Move tractor to the loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
- Ensure that tractor, trailer and freight are appropriately locked and/or secured at all times
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns and bring to the driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork and procedures at end of shift
- Unload all equipment, materials and remove trash from trailers as required
- Comply with daily record-keeping and hours of service requirements, adhering to DOT, state, and company policies
- Uphold overall safety standards and follow guidelines for the proper handling of freight throughout the delivery process
- Perform other duties as assigned
