The Delivery Driver position at Core-Mark is an essential role within the company’s food distribution network. Delivery Drivers serve as the frontline representatives who ensure that food and food service products arrive safely, timely, and in good condition to various customers. These drivers operate tractor-trailers or straight trucks on a variety of routes, including intrastate and interstate deliveries, local and shuttle routes, as well as overnight schedules. Drivers follow strict Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company safety guidelines, and established delivery schedules to meet customer commitments effectively. The role involves more than just transportation; drivers perform safety inspections, communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, and help maintain the overall quality and integrity of product deliveries. Job Requirements
- must be 21 years of age or older
- valid CDL-A license
- minimum 1 year of route delivery experience in commercial motor vehicle
- clean driving record for past 3 years
- ability to pass drug test and background check
- valid or attainable DOT health card
- able to hand-lift products weighing between 10 to 90 pounds
- capable of working Tuesday through Saturday shifts
- reliable and safety conscious
- capable of completing required safety inspections and paperwork
- strong communication skills
Job Qualifications
- high school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
- valid CDL-A license
- at least 1 year of route delivery experience in a commercial motor vehicle
- meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements where applicable
- clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
- pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
- pass road test
- attain or have valid current DOT health card or be able to secure a new DOT health card
- able to hand-lift and utilize equipment such as two-wheeler and lift gate to move product cases or freight
Job Duties
- perform all required safety checks including pre and post trip inspections of tractor truck and trailer according to DOT regulations
- inspect tractor truck and trailer to ensure they meet company safety standards and take appropriate action as needed
- report all safety issues and/or repairs required
- follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving policies
- immediately report all safety hazards
- inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- perform count check of items and check customer invoices of loaded products
- complete paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
- move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
- drive and deliver customer orders according to route delivery schedule
- unload products and transport them to designated customer storage areas
- perform damage control checks and contact supervisor about order removals
- verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
- collect money where required
- load customer returns and secure trailer doors
- ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are locked and secured properly
- unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
- perform daily record of hours of service and log entry per Federal DOT, state, and company requirements
- perform general housekeeping duties and keep trailers clean and clear
- perform other related duties as assigned
