The position of Food and Food Service Delivery Driver at Core-Mark plays a vital role within the company’s operations and the broader food supply chain in America. Delivery drivers are responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient delivery of food and related products, making sure customer orders arrive intact and on schedule. This role requires not only operational skill in driving commercial vehicles but also interpersonal acumen to effectively communicate and build relationships with customers, vendors, and coworkers. This position is structured as a Monday through Friday schedule from 2:00 AM to 12:30 PM, signifying a critical early-shift role in the distribution network. Drivers will operate various types of commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers and straight trucks, across intrastate, interstate, local, shuttle, and overnight routes. Compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations is mandatory, and all safety protocols and company standards for vehicle and freight inspections must be rigorously followed. The role also necessitates hands-on involvement in loading and unloading freight, verifying order accuracy, collecting payments when required, and maintaining accurate records, including required logs and paperwork.

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • 21 years or older
  • Minimum 6 months Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) experience
  • Compliance with state licensing and certification requirements
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) for past 3 years
  • Ability to pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Ability to pass road test
  • Valid current DOT Health Card or ability to obtain one
  • Ability to safely handle and lift freight weights ranging from 10 to 90 pounds
  • Ability to utilize equipment for moving and stacking freight

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience
  • Valid CDL-A license
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Minimum of 6 months CMV driving experience
  • Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report for last 3 years
  • Pass post offer drug test and criminal background check
  • Pass road test
  • Attain or hold a valid current DOT Health Card or able to secure one
  • Ability to hand-lift and use equipment such as two-wheeler and lift gate to move freight between 10 to 90 pounds

Job Duties

  • Perform all required safety checks including pre and post trip inspections of tractor, truck, and trailer according to DOT regulations
  • Report all safety issues and repairs required
  • Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines and policies
  • Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
  • Perform count check of items and verify customer invoices of products loaded
  • Complete all required freight paperwork accurately and legibly
  • Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
  • Drive and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route schedules
  • Unload products from trailer and transport to designated customer storage areas
  • Perform damage control checks on items, scan and report to supervisor according to company policy
  • Verify delivery of items with customers and obtain proper signatures
  • Collect money where required
  • Load customer returns and secure trailer doors
  • Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are locked and secured
  • Unload damaged goods and customer returns, complete necessary paperwork
  • Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log according to Federal DOT and company requirements
  • Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock area
  • Complete other duties as assigned
