The role of a Core-Mark Truck Driver in Salt Lake City is pivotal in maintaining the country’s food supply chain by ensuring timely, safe, and professional delivery of food and food-service products. This position offers an attractive $5,000 sign-on bonus and pays $30.50 per hour. Drivers benefit from generous time off, including seven weeks of vacation with every eighth week off as rest, totaling seven weeks off in a year. Additionally, drivers are compensated for miles driven, stops made, and unloading, providing earning potential that averages $80,000 per year, with top drivers earning over $100,000. Shift options include day routes dispatched between 1:00 AM and 6:00 AM and night routes dispatched from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. In this role, drivers are responsible for operating tractor-trailers or straight trucks on intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road, shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop routes. Key duties include performing safety inspections and DOT compliance checks, reporting any safety concerns or repair needs, verifying the accuracy of loaded freight through count checks and invoice reviews, completing required paperwork accurately, and safely maneuvering the vehicle for loading and unloading at docks. Drivers must unload products and transport them to designated customer storage areas, perform damage control by inspecting items and notifying supervisors of issues, verify deliveries by obtaining customer signatures, collect payments where required, and properly secure trailers and equipment. They also handle damaged goods and customer returns in accordance with company policies, maintain clean and secure vehicles and work areas, complete logs of hours of service to comply with federal and state regulations, and perform other duties as assigned. Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid CDL-A license
- Minimum age of 21 years
- Meet state licensing and certification requirements
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report for past 3 years
- Pass drug test and background check
- Pass road test
- Valid or attainable DOT Health Card
- Physical ability to hand-lift and operate equipment to move freight
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
- Valid CDL-A license
- Must be 21 years or older
- Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for past 3 years
- Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check
- Pass road test
- Attain or have current DOT Health Card or be able to secure a new DOT Health Card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment such as two-wheeler, lift gate to move product cases/freight of varying size and weight
Job Duties
- Perform all required safety checks including pre/post trip inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
- Report all safety issues and repairs required following DOT regulations and company safe driving policies
- Immediately report all safety hazards and inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight
- Perform count checks of items and check customer invoices for loaded products
- Complete all required paperwork associated with freight accurately and legibly
- Move tractor to loading dock and attach preloaded trailer as needed
- Drive to and deliver customer orders according to predetermined route delivery schedule
- Unload products from trailer and transport items into designated customer storage areas
- Perform damage control checks on items, scan, and contact supervisor about removing orders according to company policy
- Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures
- Collect money where required
- Load customer returns onto trailer and secure trailer doors
- Ensure tractor, trailer, and freight are locked and secured
- Unload damaged goods and customer returns and complete necessary paperwork
- Complete daily record of hours of service and enter in log in accordance with Federal DOT and company requirements
- Perform general housekeeping duties in tractor and loading dock area and keep trailers clear and clean
- Perform other related duties as assigned
