Job Description

Private Staff Group is a premier recruitment firm specializing in connecting ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) families and private principals with exceptional executive, professional, and household staff across North America. They are renowned for their discreet and confidential search processes that serve highly selective clients who prioritize trust, loyalty, and excellence in their personal staffing needs. This particular search is conducted on behalf of a thoughtful, entrepreneurial UHNW family based in the San Francisco Bay Area, known for its dynamic and multifaceted interests spanning business, residences, family life, and philanthropic endeavors.

This unique opportunity is for a Personal Chief of Staff, a position that transcends traditional roles such as Chief of Staff, Estate Manager, Executive Assistant, or Family Office Director. The role is designed for a highly skilled individual who can integrate these disciplines seamlessly while acting as a trusted operational partner to the family's principals. The Personal Chief of Staff is entrusted with managing complex and diverse responsibilities including the principals' business interests, personal affairs, residences, travel arrangements, and coordination with advisors and key stakeholders.

The essence of this role is to bring together people, information, priorities, and resources effectively so that the principals can focus on what matters most without distraction. This individual will take proactive ownership of outcomes rather than merely coordinating activities. They will be responsible for developing insightful recommendations and ensuring that initiatives are carried through from conception to completion with precision and professionalism.

Key responsibilities entail serving as the principals' confidant and operational partner across all their personal and professional priorities, protecting their time through meticulous planning and execution. This includes managing calendars, travel logistics, meetings, family events, and special projects. The Personal Chief of Staff will oversee the family residences, household staff, and vendors, implementing practical systems, standard operating procedures, and service standards to maintain excellence. Coordination of family travel, guest accommodations, event planning, and children’s logistics also fall within this purview.

Additionally, the role requires liaising with a wide network of professionals such as attorneys, accountants, wealth advisors, security experts, and real estate professionals to streamline all facets of the family's complex operations. The incumbent will assist in managing operational budgets, reporting, and vendor relationships while leading projects that aim to enhance and simplify the efficiency of operations.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting UHNW principals, founders, entrepreneurial leaders, or family offices, with meaningful exposure to corporate organizations and private family office environments. They must demonstrate exceptional discretion, professionalism, and emotional intelligence, coupled with outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Critical to success in this position is the ability to think holistically about business operations, family priorities, residences, and personal affairs.

This candidate will embody a humble, service-oriented, accountable, and low-ego approach, thriving as a builder of systems, processes, and strong, trusted relationships. They seek a long-term partnership with principals who value trust, loyalty, and excellence above all else.

The compensation for this position ranges from $300,000 to $400,000 per year, commensurate with experience and alignment with the role’s expectations, plus benefits. This is a confidential search, and Private Staff Group invites qualified candidates to apply with complete confidence, promising a rewarding career opportunity to be a vital partner in managing the sophisticated lives of a highly esteemed UHNW family.
