The position of Busser/Runner at Grand Sierra Resort is an integral part of the dining service team, directly contributing to the overall guest experience by ensuring a clean, comfortable, and efficient dining environment. This role requires someone who can work swiftly and effectively to support servers and culinary staff, maintain cleanliness, and uphold the resort's high standards of hospitality. As a Busser/Runner, you will be the first and last point of contact for guests during their meal service, providing attentive, responsive, and gracious service. You will assist in setting and resetting tables, refilling beverages, clearing dishes, and delivering food orders accurately and timely. The role also involves supporting the kitchen by expediting the flow of orders and assisting in general cleanliness during service periods.

Job Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to reach overhead, bend, kneel, and balance frequently during a shift
- Ability to operate glassware washing machines and ice machines
- Effective communication skills in English, both written and oral
- Ability to perform basic math, read, and complete written tasks
- Must be flexible to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Completion of introductory period as a GSR restaurant busser/runner
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Knowledge of safety and sanitation standards
- Physical ability to perform repetitive hand motions and maintain visual acuity
Job Qualifications
- Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- Must have completed introductory period as a GSR restaurant busser/runner
- Ability to operate a glassware washing machine and to re-fill ice bins and beer bins, utilizing ice machines
- Knowledge of the dish room, including separating silverware, dishes & glassware appropriately
- Must be able to communicate in English, both in written and oral form
- Ability of simple reading, math, writing and task completion skills
- Must have the following skills: compiling, coordination, following instructions, influencing others, memorization, problem solving, independent judgment, and decision making
- Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
Job Duties
- Promptly welcomes all guests and ensure they receive responsive, professional, and gracious service at all times
- Anticipate the guests’ needs and respond appropriately with a sense of urgency to maintain a productive working relationship with all guests and deliver necessary items
- Effectively communicate with management, chefs, and culinary staff in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and or other team members
- Clears tables after guests leave, promptly cleans table tops/seating area and takes tableware to the dish room
- Assist servers in pre-bus and busing tables
- Pre-bussing including clearing, wiping tabletops, chairs & booths, and setting tables
- Help set up to go/pick up area and help deliver to go orders to host desk to be picked up by guests
- Refills beverages as necessary
- Set and reset tables and side stations before, during and after service periods
- Deliver food orders to tables
- Ensures all machines are cleaned properly
- Fold/roll napkins when needed and keeps silverware polished
- Resets tables in a timely and efficient manner
- Participate in Pre-Shift meetings and learn new menu items
- Assist the kitchen in expediting the service process in order to maintain the flow of service
- Maintain general cleanliness in dining room during service periods
- Responsible for taking, compiling and delivering and putting away warehouse orders
- Assist Manager on duty in leading outlet and be an extension of management when one is not present
- Assist the department in implementing new strategies, policies and procedures
- Help provide clear communication and direction keeping team members informed and educated on current department and company initiatives
- Support and maintain Grand Sierra Resort guest service guidelines and other policies and procedures
- Promptly correct and help other team members with technical issues and support staff on POS
- Ensure team members are following all points of service
- Ensure the outlet and surrounding areas meet department standards and are suitable for guest use
- This includes managing all opening, daily, and closing procedures
- Help maintain safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations
- Execute training programs for new and existing team members with outlet manager and training and technology manager
- Help the manager with inventory and order sheet
- Implement and track side work
- Communicate on any menu modifications and POS errors
- Any other duties as assigned within the scope of this position
