The Residential Chef (Cook) role at Evolve Treatment Centers is an exceptional opportunity to combine culinary skills with purposeful work. This position is based in a 6-bed adolescent residential treatment home, offering a unique environment where meals play a vital role in supporting the healing journey of each teen. The employment is full-time with a competitive hourly wage of $32 to $34, scheduled Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM, ensuring no weekend or late-night shifts. This stable schedule allows for work-life balance, a rare find in many culinary roles.

In this role, the Residential Chef is responsible for preparing wholesome, balanced meals that cater specifically to the dietary requirements of adolescents undergoing treatment. The chef will design weekly menus adhering to Evolve's nutrition standards, accommodating a variety of dietary restrictions such as gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, and lactose-free options. This position goes beyond meal preparation; it involves direct engagement with clients to understand their preferences and needs, contributing to personalized care. The chef is expected to maintain a clean and orderly kitchen environment that complies with licensing and accreditation standards, ensuring food safety and quality at all times.

The role also includes managing kitchen inventory, budgeting for food purchases within allocated limits, and coordinating meal service for both clients and staff. Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years or older
  • must be able to pass LiveScan background check and clear federal and state criminal background checks and child abuse indexes
  • must be willing to interact with COVID-positive clients as needed

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma
  • experience in food service and preparation required
  • must hold current certification or licensure for operating a kitchen such as ServSafe or Food Handlers Card

Job Duties

  • Prepare fresh, balanced meals for clients and on-site staff seven days per week
  • plate and serve lunch and dinner for clients Monday through Friday
  • ensure enough food is prepared for staff and second servings for clients
  • prepare fresh re-heatable lunches and dinners for weekends
  • ensure continental breakfast items are available seven days per week
  • prepare homemade AM and PM snacks for clients Monday through Friday
  • ensure meals are balanced and appropriately portioned with protein, carb, and fruit or vegetable
  • follow Evolve Menu Nutrition Standards for weekly menu and dietary needs including gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, lactose-free
  • post menus weekly and review individually with clients
  • meet with clients after admissions to review preferences and restrictions
  • maintain food inventory and shop 1-2 times weekly
  • ensure client refrigerator is stocked with healthy snacks
  • purchase food within monthly budget
  • submit monthly receipts
  • monitor kitchen equipment and alert for repairs
  • properly store, handle, and prepare food per standards
  • label and dispose of food per standards
  • maintain temperature logs for refrigerator, freezer, and dishwasher
  • keep kitchen neat and clean
  • lock kitchen sharps when not in use and complete sign-out log
  • provide meals and snacks for other programs if needed
  • other duties as assigned by Program Director
