Job Requirements

  • Must pass an organizational background study
  • Minimum of two years of experience in food service or kitchen management
  • MN Department of Health Food Manager's License or willingness to obtain certification
  • ServSafe Certification or ability to acquire
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Experience working with diverse populations and ability to accommodate various dietary needs
  • Ability to lead and work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with staff, volunteers, and residents

Job Duties

  • Plan, prepare, and oversee the production of high-quality meals for residents, ensuring dietary and cultural needs are met
  • Develop and maintain meal plans that are nutritious, cost-effective, and in compliance with food safety standards
  • Manage inventory, place food supply orders, and maintain relationships with vendors and donors
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety regulations, including those set by the MN Department of Health
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and support kitchen staff and volunteers
  • Assign daily tasks and provide clear guidance to maintain an efficient kitchen operation
  • Ensure all staff and volunteers adhere to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, storage, and dining areas
  • Implement and enforce health and safety protocols to ensure compliance with state and local food service regulations
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintain proper documentation of kitchen procedures
  • Monitor and manage kitchen budget in coordination with the Facilities Director
  • Track food donations and ensure appropriate use of resources
  • Collaborate with other departments to support organization-wide events and initiatives
  • Adapt to emerging challenges and implement solutions to maintain kitchen efficiency
