The role of Supervisory Chef at Chartwells K12 involves both oversight and hands-on participation in the preparation and service of nutritious food and beverage items. This position ensures all meals meet company standards for quality, presentation, sanitation, safety, and portion control. The Supervisory Chef acts as the kitchen leader, stepping into the Executive Chef role when absent and facilitating smooth kitchen operations. This role requires excellent communication skills to interact with customers, address concerns, and coordinate with the broader organizational team. The Supervisory Chef also plays a key part in menu planning, food ordering, and implementing company programs and initiatives related to nutrition and wellness. By assigning tasks and managing staff performance, the Supervisory Chef ensures efficient meal service and upholds high standards of operation and customer satisfaction. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in food service or kitchen supervision
- Ability to perform essential job functions satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation
- Willingness to work flexible hours
- Commitment to maintaining food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Background check may be required

Job Duties
- Oversees and participates in the preparation and service of food and beverage items while meeting standards for presentation, sanitation, safety and portion control
- Assumes responsibility for kitchen in absence of Executive Chef
- Communicates with customers to describe menu preparation, answer questions and resolve concerns
- Helps with menu planning and ordering following appropriate company programs and initiatives
- Uses approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control
- Assigns duties to associates for efficient operation of the kitchen
- ensures timely and efficient meal service to all service areas
- Conducts periodic and regular inspections to monitor quality of food preparation, service, cleanliness and sanitation of production and service areas, appearance of equipment and associates
- takes appropriate corrective action when appropriate
- Supervises and participates in the service of food and beverage orders
- ensures the delivery of exemplary customer service and no service delays
- Supervises associates, including training, scheduling, assigning and directing work
- conducts pre-shift meetings
- Participates in performance management of associates, including appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining associates and resolving concerns
- Performs other duties as assigned
