The position of Full Time Sous Chef at the UF Admin-Racquet Club Dining Center is an hourly role that presents a unique opportunity for culinary professionals passionate about food service and leadership. The sous chef is a critical member of the kitchen management team, responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in planning, preparing, and cooking food while ensuring high standards are consistently met. This role requires not only culinary skills but also the ability to supervise and coordinate the activities of cooks and other food-service associates. The sous chef fills in for the Executive Chef when necessary, taking on responsibilities to manage the kitchen and uphold operational excellence.

With pay ranging from $18.00 to $25.00 per hour, this full-time position requires availability for AM and PM shifts as well as weekends, reflecting the dynamic demands of campus dining. Job Duties

  • Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards
  • Ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders
  • Supervises hourly food service associates including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action
  • Stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
  • Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils and cleans workstation thoroughly
  • Keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service to comply with sanitation, safety, production and merchandising requirements
  • Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner and relays information to supervisor
  • Demonstrates understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers
  • Monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies
  • Tracks product production, consumption and waste and informs supervisor when supplies or product are low
  • Performs other duties as assigned
