Montare Behavioral Health is currently seeking a skilled and passionate chef to join their team in Phoenix. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday, from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, providing an excellent work-life balance. The chef’s role is vital in the residential treatment center, offering not only nutritious and appetizing meals but also client education on food and meal preparation. The chef will be responsible for daily meal planning and preparation for both clients and staff, taking into account specific dietary needs such as allergies, preferences, and individualized meal plans. The chef at Montare Behavioral Health plays a key role in creating a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen environment. Responsibilities include maintaining compliance with State health codes and ServeSafe standards, managing food purchasing and budgets effectively, and ensuring the safety and sanitation of food handling and kitchen operations. This position requires a candidate with a strong understanding of nutrition, food safety, and kitchen management. In addition to their culinary duties, the chef will facilitate client education about food, promoting healthy eating habits as part of the holistic treatment approach. Engaging with clients in a supportive yet professional manner is essential, maintaining appropriate boundaries while providing positive interactions. The chef is also responsible for promptly communicating any unsafe conditions or equipment issues to maintenance staff. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Food handler's certification prior to start
  • Valid Arizona driver's license - position requires driving
  • Current TB test clearance must be renewed yearly
  • Current and valid CPR and First Aid certification on file must be renewed yearly
  • Ability to pass criminal background check
  • Often required to stand and sit
  • reach with hands and arms

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and in some instances up to 40 pounds
  • Experience preparing meals in a residential mental health treatment setting preferred
