We are currently seeking an Aramark Chef Manager to join the team at Suffolk University. This role is a critical position within our culinary operations, reporting directly to the General Manager. As the Chef Manager, you will take a hands-on leadership approach to managing kitchen staff and overseeing all culinary activities. Your expertise will ensure that we deliver outstanding food quality, exceptional customer service, and maintain the highest standards of safety and sanitation. You will be responsible for training kitchen personnel, estimating food consumption, purchasing ingredients, developing and standardizing recipes, and planning menus that meet both client expectations and budgetary requirements.
Moreover, the Chef Manager plays a vital role in coordinating special catering events and providing culinary instruction, sharing your skills and techniques with the team to enhance overall culinary excellence. You will also be tasked with ensuring proper equipment operation and maintenance within the kitchen to maintain a safe working environment. Success in this role requires not only culinary expertise but also strong management skills, including the ability to develop your team, handle client relations effectively, and adapt to evolving job responsibilities as needed. Job Requirements
- 2-3 years of experience in a related position
- 2-3 years of post-high school education or equivalent experience
- culinary degree preferred
- advanced knowledge of food profession principles and practices
- experiential knowledge of managing people and/or problems

Job Duties
- Train and manage kitchen personnel and supervise/coordinate all related culinary activities
- Estimate food consumption and requisition or purchase food
- Select and develop recipes as well as standardize production recipes to ensure consistent quality
- Establish presentation technique and quality standards, and plan and price menus
- Ensure proper equipment operation/maintenance and ensure proper safety and sanitation in kitchen
- Oversee special catering events and may also offer culinary instruction and/or demonstrates culinary techniques
