The Chef Manager role at Cogir Senior Living is a critical position responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the community kitchen and ensuring the delivery of high-quality dining experiences for senior residents. This role involves hands-on leadership and management of culinary operations, emphasizing consistent food production, team supervision, cost control, and strict adherence to the company’s culinary standards. The Chef Manager collaborates closely with the culinary team to prepare and serve meals that meet or exceed resident expectations in terms of quality, nutrition, and presentation.

In this role, the Chef Manager directly supervises kitchen staff including cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers, ensuring that all kitchen activities align with established menus, recipes, and sanitation standards. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Food Safety Certification (ServSafe or equivalent) required
  • At least 3-5 years of culinary experience in a professional, full-service kitchen
  • Ability to lead and support a kitchen team
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Basic inventory and cost control awareness
  • Strong organization and time management skills

Job Qualifications

  • Culinary training preferred but not required
  • Food Safety Certification (ServSafe or equivalent) required
  • At least 3-5 years of culinary experience in a professional, full-service kitchen
  • At least 1-2 years of kitchen leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or restaurant environments preferred
  • Strong food preparation and production skills
  • Ability to lead and support a kitchen team
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Basic inventory and cost control awareness
  • Strong organization and time management skills

Job Duties

  • Oversee the daily operation of the kitchen, including food preparation, production, and service
  • Execute company menus, recipes, and culinary standards
  • Ensure meals are prepared and served in a timely and professional manner
  • Maintain food quality, portion control, and presentation standards
  • Supervise kitchen staff, including cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers
