With a strong commitment to creating better everyday experiences, Sodexo offers integrated solutions spanning food service, catering, and facilities management across various industries worldwide. Established as a trusted partner to numerous organizations, Sodexo is recognized not only for its operational excellence but also for fostering inclusive workplaces where diversity, respect, and personal development are prioritized.
Currently, Sodexo is seeking a seasoned and highly independent Chef Manager to lead food service operations at Yale New Haven Health's Yale Psychiatric Hospital located in New Haven, Connecticut. This specialized role focuses on managing food service within a behavioral health satellite environment, demanding a hands-on leader who thrives under autonomy while upholding exceptional service standards. As the sole on-site operational leader, the Chef Manager will have full accountability for overseeing daily food service workflows including patient meal service, food preparation, quality assurance, adherence to regulatory standards, and cultivation of a motivated workforce.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a healthcare setting that prioritizes patient well-being and satisfaction through nutritious, appealing meals served in a supportive environment. Reporting directly to senior leadership at Yale New Haven Health, the Chef Manager will serve as a primary liaison between Sodexo, healthcare partners, and hospital management, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration. The role underscores leadership in unionized workforce management, regulatory compliance including HACCP and sanitation standards, and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at operational efficiency and food service excellence.
The Chef Manager will oversee approximately 10 unionized employees, managing staffing, scheduling, performance evaluations, and employee engagement efforts. Maintaining inventory control and food cost management will be critical components, alongside fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and team cohesion. Candidates with a passion for healthcare food service, a proven record of independent operational management, and the ability to build strong relationships with clients, patients, and interdisciplinary teams will find this position both challenging and rewarding.
Compensation is competitive and tailored based on the candidate's education, experience, and skills. Sodexo provides an extensive benefits package designed to support employees' health, wellness, and professional growth. This is an ideal role for professionals seeking to make an impactful contribution within a respected company while advancing their career in healthcare food service management.
