Currently, Starwood Hotels is seeking a highly motivated and creative Chef de Cuisine to lead the culinary operations of the rooftop kitchen for Watr Restaurant. Watr is a highly acclaimed dining venue known for its Japanese-influenced cuisine and bright, breezy atmosphere that compliments the stunning lake views. This role requires a culinary leader who will oversee the entire food preparation process, maintaining an unwavering focus on quality, detail, and guest satisfaction. The ideal candidate will manage their team effectively, fostering collaboration while optimizing operational efficiency and financial performance. Responsibilities extend beyond food preparation to include ensuring a seamless dining experience that leaves a lasting impression on guests. Job Requirements
- Passionate about food with 3-5 years of culinary work experience
- Flexible and willing to work in a 24-hour operational environment
- Ability to lead a diverse kitchen team
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Commitment to maintaining health and safety standards
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Post-secondary diploma or degree is preferred but not mandatory
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar culinary role
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in culinary arts or related field is a plus
- Proven leadership experience in a high-volume kitchen
- Strong knowledge of Japanese cuisine and culinary techniques
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
- Track record of effective team management and guest engagement
- Experience with financial oversight and cost control
Job Duties
- Lead and oversee all culinary operations at Watr Restaurant
- Ensure the highest quality and consistency of all dishes served
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to optimize performance and guest satisfaction
- Manage inventory, food costs, and financial performance of the kitchen
- Maintain strict adherence to health, safety, and sanitation regulations
- Train, mentor, and develop kitchen staff to build a cohesive and skilled team
- Communicate effectively with team members and restaurant management
