We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Chef de Cuisine to join our dynamic culinary team. This position is a fast-paced, high-performance role within a scratch kitchen environment, designed for chefs who thrive on precision, speed, and multitasking across various kitchen stations. The Chef de Cuisine will play a critical role in maintaining the exceptional standards that Terrain Café is known for by producing high-quality plates that satisfy both in design and taste. This leadership role requires a proactive approach to kitchen operations, including assisting in menu preparation and design, managing kitchen staff, and ensuring timely and efficient service without compromising quality. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, the ability to handle pressure with professionalism, and a deep motivation to deliver outstanding guest experiences through food.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a high-volume kitchen management position
  • strong and effective communication skills
  • flexible availability including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods
  • ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • reliable transportation
  • knowledge of kitchen safety and cleanliness
  • motivated to deliver exceptional guest experiences
  • organized, reliable, and professional under pressure
  • strong sense of urgency, time management, and teamwork
  • excellent record of kitchen and staff management
  • accuracy and speed in handling emergency situations
  • working knowledge of restaurant management software and POS systems
  • BS degree in culinary science or related certificate preferred

Job Duties

  • Help in the preparation and design of all food and drinks menus
  • produce high quality plates both design and taste wise
  • ensure that the kitchen operates in a timely way that meets our quality standards
  • fill in for the Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessary
  • resourcefully solve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situation
  • manage and train kitchen staff, establish working schedule and assess staff's performance
  • order supplies to stock inventory appropriately
  • comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
