Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years experience as Chef de Cuisine or Executive Sous Chef in fine dining or similar concept
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Proficiency with essential computer programs and systems including Gmail, Microsoft Office, Paycom, and Toast POS
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to lead and manage a culinary team effectively
- Commitment to safety and compliance with health regulations
- Demonstrated leadership and passion for hospitality and culinary excellence
Job Qualifications
- 1-2 years Chef de Cuisine or Executive Sous Chef experience in a fine dining establishment or similar caliber concept
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Proficiency with Gmail, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Paycom, Toast POS, and additional systems
- Ability to access and accurately input information using moderately complex computer systems
- Willingness to work variable schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Adaptability in a fast-paced and challenging work environment
- Demonstrated positive leadership that inspires and motivates team members
- Passion for exceptional hospitality, food, and beverage
Job Duties
- Create and implement operating standards for the culinary department together with the Executive Chef
- Oversee menu structure, offerings, titling, and pricing
- Develop featured items for holidays, special events, and promotions
- Manage cooks and porters in their daily responsibilities, providing clear and effective direction
- Ensure all items are prepared properly and timely for service daily
- Conduct line checks to ensure Department of Health compliance and address violations immediately
- Approve maintenance or repairs needed through the Executive Chef
- Promote and practice safe work habits through training, education, and management
- Hire, train, supervise, manage, coach, counsel, and evaluate culinary team members
- Participate in front-of-house training on menu and food knowledge
- Manage and oversee scheduling for back-of-house
- Establish regular communication with kitchen staff including pre-shifts, meetings, and trainings
- Oversee staffing pars, postings for open positions, and interviewing
- Ensure new hires are fully trained on kitchen expectations, recipes, product quality, and presentation
- Review and approve payroll for culinary staff in collaboration with Executive Chef
- Conduct daily time punch reviews and address any time clock abuse
- Oversee performance reviews and deliver feedback to chefs
- Ensure staff compliance with company policies and legal requirements
- Maximize culinary department profitability via food and labor cost controls
- Regularly cost recipes to maintain profitability targets
- Oversee purchasing programs including order guides, ordering schedules, and inventory levels
- Manage vendor relationships to drive cost efficiencies and ensure product quality
- Establish and monitor inventory cycles with accurate and timely completion
