Job Requirements
- Four years of experience as a chef
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience
- Ability to work day and night shifts
- Availability for flexible scheduling including 8, 10, and 12 hour shifts
- Ability to commute to Philadelphia, PA 19130
- Willingness to relocate to Philadelphia, PA 19130 before starting work
- Capability to work in person
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to manage kitchen operations effectively
Job Qualifications
- Proven experience as a chef or cook in a high-volume kitchen
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Deep knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Passion for innovative, soulful, and flavorful food
- Experience with soul food, seafood, pasta, etc
- Ability to handle catering and special events
Job Duties
- Plan and execute menus that align with 1519's culinary identity and customer preferences
- Prepare meals with precision, creativity, and consistency
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including inventory, prep, and cleanliness
- Supervise and train kitchen staff to uphold food quality, safety, and hygiene standards
- Manage food costs, portion control, and minimize waste
- Collaborate with management on seasonal offerings, specials, and catering menus
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment
