Competitive pay flexible schedule opportunity to work in a family environment paid trial dinner

Job Description

We are a warm and welcoming household based in Stevenson, Maryland, seeking a dedicated and passionate personal cook to join our family. Our household consists of three adults and one child, and we cherish the value of home-cooked meals in creating a nurturing and loving environment. As a personal cook, you will have the rewarding opportunity to prepare simple, fresh, and delicious family dinners that everyone will look forward to. This position is perfect for someone who enjoys crafting wholesome meals using fresh ingredients and takes pride in contributing to the well-being and happiness of a family through their culinary skills. The typical meals you will prepare include roast chicken, grilled steak, various chicken and fish dishes, simple pasta, soups, a variety of vegetables, rice and grains, and fresh salads. Each meal is designed to be straightforward yet nourishing, ensuring that mealtimes remain a comforting daily highlight for the household.

This role requires working a few evenings a week, specifically from Monday to Friday, 3 PM to 8 PM, from September 10 through December 23, with some flexibility on the start and end dates. The schedule allows you to engage fully in meal preparation and kitchen maintenance without the pressures of a full-time position. This opportunity is laid out with an independent contractor framework (1099), meaning there are no paid time off or traditional employee benefits as this role is not suitable for W-2 candidates. Pay ranges between $35 and $50 per hour, depending on experience and performance, providing competitive compensation for your culinary talents and reliability.

The role's responsibilities extend beyond cooking to include daily grocery shopping at sources known for the freshest ingredients, utilizing the household's credit card for grocery purchases. The cook is expected to deliver the meals punctually at 6:30 PM and ensure full kitchen cleanup after dinner service. This includes washing dishes, wiping down counters and stovetops, running the dishwasher, taking out the trash, and vacuuming the kitchen floor. Organizational skills are essential as you maintain the refrigerator, freezer, and cupboards by keeping them clean, rotating older items, wiping shelves, and discarding expired food.

Ideal candidates will have past experience cooking for family settings or communal environments like church kitchens, schools, or senior communities. Key attributes for success in this role are reliability, cleanliness, organization, and maintaining a positive attitude. To secure the position, candidates must provide references and pass a background check. Additionally, a paid trial dinner will be conducted before hiring, followed by a 30-day probation period to ensure a good fit for both parties. This role is an excellent fit for individuals passionate about home cooking and eager to contribute to a family environment with both skill and heart.
