Job Description

The hiring company is a forward-thinking technology firm based in San Diego, California, specializing in the development of autonomous self-driving cars. This company drives innovation by advancing the capabilities of self-driving vehicles, logging hundreds of millions of miles annually across global locations. Their commitment to cutting-edge technology not only revolutionizes transportation but also creates a dynamic work environment that embraces creativity, precision, and teamwork. Their office in Old Town, San Diego, serves as a home base where a talented team collaborates to push boundaries in automotive technology and software development. The company culture values high performance, smart problem-solving, and fostering an environment where employees feel supported and motivated to excel.

They are currently seeking a full-time Chef to join their onsite team at the Old Town location. This role is integral to supporting the company’s vibrant office by managing lunch and dinner meal services for a small team of 20 to 25 people at lunch and 15 to 20 people in the evening, Monday through Friday. The Chef will be responsible for consistently preparing high-quality, appetizing, and nutritious meals that meet the office’s diverse preferences and dietary requirements. Beyond cooking, the Chef will oversee the kitchen operations independently, ensuring smooth day-to-day functionality, managing inventory including snacks and drinks, and maintaining a balanced budget. This position calls for someone with solid culinary skills, excellent organizational abilities, and innate leadership to run kitchen activities with minimal supervision.

In this role, the Chef will have the autonomy to plan innovative menus that motivate the team to enjoy healthy meals, never letting the food become repetitive or compromise on quality. Managing vendor relationships and catering to specific dietary needs within the office will also be part of the daily tasks. The company offers a full-time, salaried position with compensation dependent on experience, accompanied by appealing benefits such as stock options, health, dental, and vision insurance, and access to an office gym with workout classes. This opportunity is perfect for a culinary professional looking to integrate their passion for food with an engaging and fast-paced technology work environment, and who thrives on accountability and operational excellence.
