Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification as a dietary manager or associate degree in culinary arts
  • Experience in managing dietary operations preferably in healthcare or skilled nursing facility
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and standards
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to train and evaluate staff
  • Capacity to maintain and care for kitchen and dietary equipment

Job Qualifications

  • Certified dietary manager or associate degree and/or certification in culinary arts
  • Effective communication skills with dietitian diet tech and other facility disciplines
  • Experience in dietary department leadership preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to plan menus based on dietary needs and preferences
  • Strong organizational and team management skills

Job Duties

  • Oversees the entire dietary operation including orientation training and supervision of dietary staff
  • Performs ongoing training and provides staff evaluations
  • Assists in direct dietary operations as needed
  • Ensures all staff properly use and clean dietary equipment
  • Maintains an effective in-service program for staff proficiency and food service standards
  • Conducts meal rounds to supervise meal delivery and engage with residents about food preferences
  • Supervises all work areas including preparation production stock rooms and dish room while maintaining safety and sanitation standards
  • Assists in purchasing high-quality foods and verifies quality from vendors
  • Oversees inventories and stock rotation to reduce waste
  • Collaborates with dietitian on menu planning and development
  • Participates in quality assurance and performance improvement programs
  • Caters facility special events and collaborates with Activity Director for resident events
