The role available is for a full-time Night Shift Patient Care Assistant in the Neuro Progressive Care Unit (PCU Neuro - 4A). This position involves working closely with an interdisciplinary team to support patients primarily recovering from strokes, as well as those with other neurological conditions such as seizure disorders, multiple sclerosis, encephalopathy, and brain tumors. The average patient stay is four to five days, and many patients will require ongoing rehabilitation post-discharge. The Night Shift hours are from 6pm to 6:30am, and the role offers an 18% night shift differential in addition to a weekend shift differential. Importantly, the position provides an opportunity to use a self-scheduling tool, offering flexibility in shift planning and weekend coverage.

The Patient Care Assistant is responsible for delivering routine care aimed at promoting patient comfort and supporting the overall care plan. Core duties include assisting patients with daily activities like hygiene, mobility, and nutrition. The role also involves collecting vital patient data, such as vital signs and input/output measurements, and accurately documenting these observations. Additionally, Patient Care Assistants support medical staff by performing delegated procedures like blood draws, EKG monitoring, and catheter removals, always working under the supervision of a licensed professional.

This position requires excellent organizational and communication skills, alongside a thorough understanding of medical terminology and computer literacy for documentation purposes. Candidates must hold current BLS certification and state certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA). There is a preference for candidates with recent healthcare experience, particularly in hospital or clinical settings, and those holding a Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) license in Arizona. Banner Health places emphasis on maintaining a supportive, fast-paced environment with a strong focus on high-quality customer service, collaboration, and continuous development opportunities.

In summary, this position at Banner Health offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to high-quality neurological patient care within a renowned healthcare system.
