The role of a Medical Assistant Certified at Roper St. Francis Healthcare is a vital position within the clinical team, aimed at providing comprehensive indirect and direct patient care. This is a full-time position scheduled Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, based at their facility located at 1101 Bowman Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC. The Medical Assistant Certified acts under the guidance of healthcare providers, assisting in patient assessment and preparation, and contributing to the smooth operation of the clinical setting.

In this role, the Medical Assistant Certified is responsible for a variety of clinical and administrative duties that support patient care and provider efficiency. They conduct basic patient evaluations, including recording vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse oximetry, temperature, and height and weight measurements. They also administer medications as ordered, assist with virtual health visits, and manage electronic medical records accurately and efficiently. Additionally, the Medical Assistant Certified maintains a clean and safe environment by ensuring exam rooms and medical equipment are well-prepared and that supplies are adequately stocked.

To qualify, candidates must hold active Medical Assistant certification from recognized organizations such as CMA, RMA, CCMA, or NCMA, and possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Educationally, a high school diploma or GED is required, along with completion of an accredited medical assistant post-secondary program or equivalent in South Carolina. One year of recent medical assisting experience is preferred to ensure readiness for this dynamic clinical environment.
