The role being offered is a Full-Time Artisan Bread Baker position within the Central Production Artisan Bread department. This role involves overnight shifts with start times ranging from 6pm to 11pm, offering a competitive hourly wage between $17.35 and $20.65. The primary responsibility in this position is to maintain the quality standards and product levels of all fresh baked artisan bread products. The Artisan Bread Baker will be actively engaged in mixing, shaping, scoring, and baking bread using precise recipes and techniques unique to Harmons artisan breads. An important aspect of this job includes receiving and storing products and ensuring that all bakery goods are fresh and meet the rigorous standards set by the company.

In addition to baking responsibilities, this role requires meticulous attention to inventory control and product assortment. The Artisan Bread Baker will oversee the packing of bread loads correctly each morning to prepare shipments for various stores, ensuring timely and accurate delivery. A significant component of this job is maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the Artisan Bread department, adhering strictly to company standards for appearance and hygiene. Exceptional customer service skills are crucial as the position involves daily interaction with both customers and store associates, requiring excellent communication and a customer-minded approach.

Applicants should expect a physically demanding environment characterized by exposure to a variety of conditions such as hot, cold, slippery, and dusty environments due to flour particles. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • One year of baking experience preferred
  • Current Food Handler’s Permit
  • Ability to read and follow a recipe
  • Basic math skills used to half or double recipes
  • Knowledge of baking procedures and times
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures
  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Solid communication skills including verbal and listening
  • Ability to accept constructive review and be accountable
  • Integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed

Job Duties

  • Follows established departmental and store policies and procedures
  • Ensures the quality and freshness of all products and services the Artisan Bread department provides
  • Responsible for maintaining the appropriate product assortment and inventory levels
  • Ensure all loads are packed correctly for shipment to the stores each morning
  • Mix all preferments for next day’s production
  • Ensures the Artisan Bread department is cleaned and sanitized daily and meets the company standards for appearance
  • Delivers excellent customer service to all customers
  • Follows precise recipes and techniques for the mixing, shaping, scoring, and baking of Harmons’ artisan breads
  • Assists as needed to ensure the success of the company as a whole
