The hiring establishment is a dynamic retail company specializing in food production, particularly commercial baking and related food preparation. This company is dedicated to delivering high-quality products to both new and existing retail customers through a well-organized and efficient production process. Known for maintaining stringent food safety and sanitation standards, this company emphasizes operational excellence and continuous improvement in its production environment. The workplace operates in a fast-paced retail setting, requiring adaptability and strong teamwork among employees to meet the demanding pace and quality expectations of the business.
The role available is that of a Production Lead, a vital position responsible for monitoring production flow and ensuring the quality of products. The Production Lead performs a variety of duties including coordinating the production schedule, ordering raw ingredients, and organizing the work area to maximize efficiency. This role involves overseeing product quality and leading initiatives to reduce shrinkage within the production process. The Production Lead also manages the production of special orders and supervises shifts, lunches, and breaks to maintain smooth operations. Training new partners and supporting food safety and sanitation processes are also key responsibilities. Additionally, the Production Lead contributes to the implementation and maintenance of Operational Excellence initiatives which drive continuous improvement throughout the production department.
This position requires someone who works well under minimal supervision, is comfortable handling varied and moderately complex duties, and possesses advanced skills in the area of food production and commercial baking. The individual will have the flexibility to adapt procedures, techniques, tools, and materials to meet special production needs, ensuring both product quality and operational efficiency are upheld. Supervisory responsibilities include orienting, training, assigning, and checking the work of other partners, reflecting the leadership nature of this role.
Working conditions demand physical ability to operate in a fast-paced retail environment and occasionally lift objects weighing 20 pounds or more. This production lead role typically requires 5-8 years of related experience, with prior supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of department products, food preparation, commercial baking equipment, and procedures is essential. The position is designed for candidates who can maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation, understand commercial baking intricacies, and lead their team to meet the organization's production goals effectively.
Although not exhaustive, the duties and responsibilities indicated describe the general nature and level of work assigned to this position. Responsibilities may evolve based on business needs, and employees may be asked to perform other related tasks as required. This offers an excellent opportunity for a seasoned production professional to take on a leadership role in an established retail food production environment where quality, safety, and operational excellence are paramount.
