Job Description
Lochner, an Egis company, is a reputable infrastructure consulting, engineering, and operations firm located just southwest of Corpus Christi near Hebbronville, Texas. Lochner is part of Egis, a global leader dedicated to advancing transportation infrastructure across all modes, urban development through vertical and horizontal infrastructure, and community resource management including energy, water, and environmental solutions. This affiliation has allowed Lochner to expand its capabilities while maintaining the core values and culture that define its unique identity in the engineering industry. As a people-centric organization, Lochner's mission is to empower its diverse team, leveraging their collective knowledge to positively impact communities across the United States.
Lochner is currently seeking a mid-level CEI (Construction Engineering and Inspection) Inspector to join their skilled workforce in South Texas. This full-time position focuses on supporting TxDOT projects with an emphasis on roadway and bridge construction inspection. The role involves hands-on fieldwork where the inspector will monitor project field activities to ensure compliance with plan specifications, contract documents, and quality standards. The successful candidate will use standard field measuring equipment to check lines, grades, dimensions, and elevations, contributing to the delivery of safe and reliable infrastructure solutions.
In this role, the CEI Inspector will closely observe highway work zones and traffic control setups, promptly reporting any potential issues to supervision to maintain safety and project integrity. Materials testing and sampling are key responsibilities, along with documenting daily activities and pay items using software tools such as AWP, Excel, or Site Manager. The inspector will operate under the guidance of field project engineers, senior inspectors, or resident engineers, fostering a collaborative environment where safety, quality, and continuous improvement are paramount.
Candidates must possess extensive experience with TxDOT projects, with at least six years of relevant experience in roadway and bridge construction inspection. Essential qualifications include graduation from high school, relevant state certification courses such as Level 1B Hot Mix and ACI concrete field testing, and basic computer proficiency. The position requires the physical capacity to perform routine fieldwork activities including lifting equipment and navigating uneven terrain, often in varied and challenging weather conditions.
Lochner offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the health, financial stability, and work-life balance of its employees. The company emphasizes a supportive work environment that values diversity, inclusivity, and equal employment opportunities. Lochner is committed to fostering an entrepreneurial spirit and a culture of autonomy, encouraging employees at all levels to innovate and thrive within their careers. The CEI Inspector role presents an excellent opportunity for professionals looking to advance in the civil engineering field while making a meaningful impact on Texas infrastructure projects.
