Job Description
Club Demonstration Services (CDS) is a prominent sales and marketing agency specializing in outsourced sales, merchandising, category management, and marketing services targeted toward manufacturers, suppliers, and producers of food products and consumer packaged goods. CDS is the preferred in-house event marketing provider to Costco, which is one of North America's largest retailers, known for its warehouse club concept and wide member base. CDS prides itself on delivering the best person-to-person marketing services in the industry, which effectively drives sales for both their customers and Costco’s extensive membership network. The company operates across multiple trade channels including grocery, mass merchandise, specialty, convenience, drug, dollar, club, hardware, consumer electronics, and home centers. With its strong focus on bridging the gap between manufacturers and retailers, CDS ensures consumers have access to top-quality products available in the marketplace today.
The Event Manager role at CDS is a full-time position dedicated to the recruitment, hiring, and supervision of in-store Product Demonstrators. This role plays a critical part in overseeing product preparation and presentation, as well as in training staff to provide excellent customer service to all club members. The Event Manager will navigate communication between warehouse managers, vendors, and in-store employees to ensure smooth operations, timely product demonstrations, and participation in grand openings for new locations. The job requires a high level of leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic retail environment.
This role is office and field-based, requiring considerable physical activity such as standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and possibly handling food demonstrations. The position offers a consistent work schedule from Tuesday to Saturday, from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, though variations may occur based on business needs. CDS emphasizes work-life balance and provides full-time benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability, a 401(k) plan, and generous paid time off.
The Event Manager will lead activities focused on ensuring the successful promotion and sales of vendor products within the warehouse club environment. Responsibilities include communicating marketing and sales strategies, training product demonstrators in excellent service and food safety practices, and collaborating with district management to assess performance metrics. This role also supports corporate governance by maintaining compliance with company policies and procedures.
Ideal candidates will possess strong communication and leadership skills, with a proven track record in team coaching and independent decision-making. Experience in retail, hospitality, or food environments is highly valued. The position requires the ability to adapt quickly to changes and work efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Additionally, candidates must hold the NEHA Professional Food Handler Certification to ensure proper food safety and sanitation practices are maintained during product demonstrations.
CDS offers an inclusive work environment that supports equal opportunity and reasonable accommodations. The company is committed to diversity and invites qualified candidates to apply who can contribute to driving successful retail marketing programs that benefit both vendors and customers alike.
