Job Description

Performance Foodservice, a division of Performance Food Group (PFG), is a leading broadline distributor serving a diverse customer base that includes independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. Established as a trusted partner in the foodservice industry, Performance Foodservice combines the expertise of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and various specialists to build strong, collaborative relationships with their clients. By providing personalized guidance on menu development, product selection, operational strategies, and process improvements, the company not only supplies high-quality food products but also empowers independent restaurant owners and foodservice providers to excel and grow their businesses. The company values delivering exceptional service and forming meaningful connections with its customers, positioning itself as a crucial contributor to the local and national food supply chain.

The role of a CDL-A Driver at Performance Foodservice is a vital component in maintaining this seamless supply chain. Offering competitive compensation with an average annual salary of $90,000 and a $10,000 sign-on bonus (conditions apply), this full-time position operates Monday through Friday, typically starting early mornings. Drivers within this role are tasked with safely and efficiently transporting food and food-related items across intrastate and interstate routes, using tractor trailers or straight trucks. Their responsibilities extend beyond simple delivery; they actively engage with customers, serving as the face of Performance Foodservice, fostering long-term relationships based on reliability, professionalism, and exceptional customer care.

As a CDL-A Driver, you will join a dedicated team that values safety, teamwork, and excellence. Your daily duties include performing essential safety inspections on your vehicle in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, ensuring that all freight is loaded correctly and secured, navigating pre-planned routes, and liaising professionally with customers during deliveries. The position further involves operational tasks such as unloading product, handling paperwork accurately, collecting payments when necessary, and maintaining the cleanliness and security of equipment throughout the shift. Drivers are encouraged to report any safety hazards or maintenance requirements promptly, adhering strictly to all regulatory guidelines.

Performance Foodservice supports its drivers by providing comprehensive benefits from day one. These include health and wellness benefits, a supportive inclusion-focused culture, a structured employee stock purchase plan, 401(k) with employer matching, education assistance programs, and paid time off, contributing to a rewarding career path with multiple growth opportunities within America's food distribution industry. The company fosters a safe and respectful environment that appreciates its employees through regular recognition and rewards.

If you are a motivated professional with a valid CDL-A license, a clean driving record, and a commitment to safety and customer service, this role offers a fulfilling career opportunity. You will play an essential role in keeping America’s food supply moving smoothly, interacting with a variety of customers while growing your career in an important and expanding sector.
