Job Description
PFG Customized Distribution is a leading company within the food distribution industry, renowned for meeting the specialized needs of some of America’s most recognized national chain restaurants such as Cracker Barrel, TGI Friday’s, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster, and Ruby Tuesday. Their extensive reach spans across the United States and more than 40 countries worldwide, delivering customized attention and providing a centralized point of contact for product lines, menu changes, and account coordination. This company is a part of Performance Food Group, which is committed to fostering a safe and inclusive working environment with a culture of rewards, recognition, and respect for its employees. PFG Customized Distribution offers competitive pay and benefits, including day one health and wellness benefits, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. This commitment supports employee growth and development while delivering exceptional service to their valued customers.
As a CDL-A Driver with PFG Customized Distribution, you will play a critical role in the nation’s food supply chain. This position is essential as delivery drivers not only ensure that customer products arrive safely and on time but also act as the face of the company, building meaningful relationships with customers. The role involves operating tractor trailers or straight trucks on intrastate and interstate routes, including local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive-and-drop assignments. The position offers an average weekly earning of $1545, with additional opportunities to increase income. Drivers work a structured 4-day workweek with shifts scheduled from Sunday to Saturday, typically dispatching between 11:00 PM and 5:00 AM with varying end times. A $5,000 sign-on bonus is available for eligible applicants who have not worked for a PFG-owned company within the last six months.
The CDL-A Driver is responsible for performing all safety checks, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tractors and trailers in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety standards. The driver will ensure trailers are properly loaded, secured, and locked at all times while handling freight throughout the delivery process. Accuracy in record-keeping and adherence to DOT hours of service requirements are critical aspects of the role. Other duties include unloading damaged goods and customer returns, maintaining cleanliness and organization of trailers, and handling paperwork meticulously. The driver must communicate professionally with customers, vendors, and co-workers, fostering strong working relationships and providing excellent service consistently.
This job requires physical capabilities such as hand-lifting and using equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates to move or stack product cases ranging from 60 to 90 pounds. English proficiency is essential, and the candidate must meet all state licensing requirements, including passing road and drug tests, a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) check for the past three years, and the ability to secure a new DOT medical card. The role demands maturity, reliability, and the capacity to work the scheduled shifts effectively. PFG Customized Distribution’s commitment to equal employment opportunity ensures a diverse and welcoming workplace for all employees. If you are a dedicated CDL-A driver ready to join a dynamic and supportive team, this position offers an excellent opportunity for career growth and an attractive compensation package.
