Job Description
Performance Foodservice, a prominent broadline distributor under Performance Food Group (PFG), plays a vital role in the food distribution industry by servicing a diverse array of local customers including independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. The company thrives on building strong relationships through a dedicated team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and foodservice experts who support customers by offering professional advice on operational improvement, menu development, product selection, and overall strategic guidance. This approach extends beyond simple food delivery to actively helping independent restaurant owners and foodservice providers achieve business success and growth. Known for its commitment to quality and customer care, Performance Foodservice ensures that their offerings and services align closely with the specific needs of the diverse markets they serve.
The CDL-A Driver position at Performance Foodservice is essential, acting as a crucial link within the company's extensive supply chain, particularly supporting America’s food distribution system. This role involves driving tractor trailers or straight trucks across intrastate and interstate routes, including local deliveries, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle trips, and overnight or drive-and-drop routes, ensuring that food and related products arrive safely, timely, and in excellent condition. Drivers operate with full adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies, ensuring safety and compliance at all times. The position offers competitive annual pay ranging between $65,000 and $85,000, along with benefits starting from the first day of employment such as health and wellness coverage, employee stock purchase plans, 401K employer matching, education assistance, paid time off, and more.
Performance Foodservice emphasizes a safe and inclusive work culture, recognizing and rewarding employees for their contributions and fostering a respectful working environment. Drivers are provided with boots and protective gear and typically work Monday through Friday on local routes with early morning dispatch and a guarantee of daily return home. This role demands excellent communication skills to maintain professional and positive interactions with customers, vendors, and co-workers, as well as the ability to perform diverse duties ranging from conducting safety inspections and maintaining documentation to handling freight deliveries and returns. The CDL-A Driver must be capable of managing physical demands such as lifting and using equipment like two-wheelers and lift gates to move product cases weighing between 10 to 90 pounds, adapting to the requirements of different locations.
This position supports company operations by not only transporting goods but also by representing the company’s values and dedication to customer satisfaction and operational excellence. The role promises growth opportunities within an essential industry sector alongside a comprehensive reward system for contributions made toward the company’s success. Applicants will find that this role offers both steady career prospects and opportunities to develop skills in logistics, customer service, and regulatory compliance within a respected and stable company environment.
