This position is an entry-level Driver Trainee role, focusing on training drivers to skillfully and safely operate tractor trailers or straight trucks. The role includes both intrastate and interstate driving on local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes to deliver various food and food-related products to customers. The Driver Trainee will learn to execute deliveries in compliance with company policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The position requires professional communication and interaction with customers, vendors, and co-workers to ensure excellent service is consistently maintained.
Key responsibilities include completing the PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program, assisting and learning from experienced driver trainers, conducting safety inspections of equipment according to DOT and company standards, and managing delivery logistics like unloading freight, verifying delivery documents, handling returns, and completing required paperwork. The Driver Trainee must ensure that all freight and equipment are securely loaded and transported, maintaining safety and accuracy throughout the delivery process.
This role provides a strong foundation for advancing within the company’s transportation and logistics divisions, with a weekly minimum guarantee pay ranging from $1,450 to an annual salary between $80,000 and $90,000. Additionally, PFG Customized Distribution offers a $2,500 referral bonus for active employees who successfully refer new hires under applicable terms. The work schedule features a unique four-night workweek with dispatch hours from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- Valid CDL A license
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Able to attain or hold a valid DOT health card
- Clean motor vehicle report for the past 3 years
- Pass a post offer drug test
- Pass a road test
- Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment for moving freight
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- Internal candidates must have 1 year of service in good standing and be able to obtain CDL permit and DOT health card
- External hires may have 0-6 months CDL experience
- Valid CDL A
- Must be 21 years of age
- Meet all state licensing and certification requirements where applicable
- Clean motor vehicle report for past 3 years
- Pass post offer drug test
- Pass road test
- Attain or have valid current DOT health card
- Able to hand-lift and utilize equipment to move product cases of varying sizes and weights
Job Duties
- Attend and successfully complete entry level driver trainee or dock to driver training program
- Ride with and assist driver trainer in executing deliveries
- Perform all required safety checks including pre and post trip inspections of tractor, truck, and trailer
- Follow all DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines
- Inspect trailer for properly loaded and secured freight, perform count check and verify customer invoices
- Drive to and deliver customer orders according to schedule
- Unload products and transport items into customer storage areas, verify delivery with customer and obtain signatures
