They have positioned themselves as an essential contributor to America’s food distribution system, providing competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and a culture that promotes safety, inclusivity, and career growth.
The role of CDL-A Driver is pivotal within PFG Customized Distribution’s operational framework. This position involves driving a tractor trailer or straight truck on a variety of routes including intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, overnight, and drive and drop routes to deliver food and food-related products safely and efficiently to customers. With an average annual pay ranging from $70,000 to $80,000 and a guaranteed weekly minimum pay of $1,350, this is a full-time, Monday through Friday schedule position where dispatch times are between 11 pm and 2 am, supporting team driving practices. Additionally, new hires may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of $7,500 if they have foodservice delivery experience or $5,000 otherwise, with terms applying.
This CDL-A Driver position not only demands proficiency in safe driving according to Department of Transportation regulations but also excellence in customer interaction as drivers often serve as the face of the company, building lasting relationships with clients. Drivers are responsible for conducting thorough safety checks, ensuring secure loading and unloading practices, managing freight with attention to detail, and proper documentation. They also assist with general housekeeping duties related to their equipment and loading dock areas, maintaining a clean and orderly working environment. The role encourages teamwork and requires the driver to perform any assigned duties to best serve the company’s interests, adhering strictly to all DOT and company policies.
Candidates must possess essential qualifications, including a High School Diploma or GED, a valid CDL-A license, at least six months of commercial driving experience, and must be 21 years of age or older. Compliance with state licensing and certification requirements is mandatory, along with a clean Motor Vehicle Report for the last three years. Successful candidates must pass a post-offer drug test, criminal background check, and road test. Additionally, they should have or be able to obtain a current DOT Health Card. Physical capability to handle product cases ranging between 10 and 90 pounds using equipment such as two-wheelers and lift gates is required.
PFG Customized Distribution offers a safe and inclusive work culture that values rewards, recognition, and respect. Benefits start from day one and include health and wellness programs, an employee stock purchase plan, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off. Growth opportunities abound as employees contribute to a vital part of the nation’s food delivery infrastructure. The company actively promotes equal employment opportunity (EEO), ensuring a diverse and non-discriminatory workplace environment, in keeping with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
