Job Description

Performance Foodservice is a leading broadline foodservice distributor dedicated to supporting a diverse range of customers such as independent restaurants, hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries across the country. The company offers a collaborative environment built around a team of sales representatives, chefs, consultants, and other industry experts who work closely with clients to provide tailored advice on operational improvements, menu development, product selection, and strategic planning. This personalized approach helps independent restaurant owners and other foodservice providers not only meet their day-to-day needs but also achieve long-term success in the highly competitive food industry. With its commitment to customer service excellence and operational efficiency, Performance Foodservice stands out as a trusted partner in America’s food distribution network.

The available position of Delivery Driver at Performance Foodservice is a vital role within the organization, focused on the safe and timely delivery of food and food-related products. Drivers operate tractor trailers or straight trucks to transport goods on intrastate, interstate, local, over-the-road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes. This full-time role features competitive pay starting at $22 per hour during training and progressing to an annual salary range of $65,000 to $75,000 after training completion, combined with a day shift schedule and the convenience of local routes that allow drivers to return home daily. The position offers excellent benefits starting on day one, including health and wellness plans, an employee stock purchase program, 401K employer matching, education assistance, and paid time off, fostering a supportive and rewarding work environment.

In this role, drivers are responsible for ensuring the proper handling, loading, and unloading of freight, adhering strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety policies. They conduct all required pre- and post-trip inspections of their vehicles to maintain safety and operational standards. The Delivery Driver also acts as an ambassador for the company by building and maintaining strong relationships with customers through professional and courteous communication during deliveries. Routine tasks include verifying orders, obtaining customer signatures, managing cash or check collections where applicable, and completing all necessary documentation accurately to ensure compliance. Drivers also participate in general housekeeping duties such as keeping trucks and loading areas clean and secure. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the food supply chain, ensuring customers receive their products in excellent condition and on time.

Performance Foodservice is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. The company promotes a culture of respect, safety, and recognition, providing a secure and inclusive environment for all employees regardless of race, gender, age, religion, or other protected characteristics. This driver role offers not only a stable and fulfilling career but also growth opportunities within the company by performing essential work that supports the critical infrastructure of America’s food distribution system.
